Getting Married at St John's Community Church

If you're planning on getting married - congratulations! St John's hosts a number of weddings each year, & our Worship Area provides a warm, comfortable & modern setting for the ceremony.

Whether you'd prefer a traditional or more contemporary style service, we'll do our best to meet your needs.  With a modern PA, screens for song words, slides or video clips, facilities on hand for refreshments, toilets with baby changing & a small soft-play area for younger ones, we hope to be able to accomodate most requests! If you'd like to come & look around the building, that can easily be arranged - do just get in touchWe realise there is a huge amount to think about, & months (if not years!) of planning go into a wedding day. You may find www.yourchurchwedding.org is a helpful website to visit as you make your preparations together.

By law, all church weddings will have Banns of Marriage read out in the weeks leading up to the wedding day. Banns are read out at our 10.30am Sunday service for three consecutive weeks, usually during the month prior to the wedding. You'll need to fill in & return to us one of two different Banns Application Forms. If you're getting married at St John's, you'll need to fill in this form; if you're getting married elsewhere but live in the parish of St John's, you'll need to fill in this form. Don't forget, banns must be read in the parishes of churches where you each live, & where you're getting married.

The cost of a wedding service at St John's starts from £499.00 as of January 2017. This includes obligatory costs for the wedding certificate, publishing banns, a verger & an organist. Additional costs may include fees for extra musicians, printed service sheets, a PA technician, flowers & so on, but we'll happily discuss what you feel you need for the day.

Fees for Calling Banns & a Banns of Marriage Certificate currently cost £41.00 (as of January 2017).

Church fees are fixed by the Church of England - to see these and other fixed fees, please visit this website.
